Atlanta Braves World Series Champions

It is a very exciting day here in the ATL today as the city celebrates the Braves winning the World Series. It is the first time in 26 years that this has happened. 1995 was the last time they won. It was also the year I moved to Atlanta. What a great way to celebrate my 26th year in Atlanta.

I won't pretend to be a sports fan. In fact, as I sit here on my sofa watching the celebration parade unfold on tv, I contemplated getting dressed and going down to join in the celebration when it dawned on me that I don't have any Braves' gear. Not a Tshirt, a flag or a cap. Truth is I have given those things to family and friends as souvenirs over the years but never thought to hold one for myself. Oh well, it's just as well because judging from the size of the crowd, I have a better view from my sofa. Not to mention being nice and warm too.

From what I heard on the broadcast people were camped out from 7 am waiting for the opportunity to see their favorite players. Some schools closed so that people could be apart of this historical event.

The parade route included going through Atlanta and Cobb County ending in Truist Park where a live concert will ensue after the ceremony. Atlanta's own Ludacris and Big Boi will headline the concert. Word is tickets sold out in 2 hours. After hearing this I had an issue. How could they charge fans to celebrate with them? After all the support and dedication fans have given over the past 26 years, the least they could do is give fans a free concert on them.

So I took to the internet to get the skinny on how much these tickets cost. I was expecting the price to be as steep as the tickets to the games. Game tickets and parking was high, like $$$ ridiculously high. Some seats went for as much as thousands of dollars and parking was in the 3 digits. So imagine my surprise and delight to discover that the tickets were FREE. Yes free however people had to reserve their tickets in advance. Reservations for inside the stadium was available Thursday morning on the Braves' website and quickly sold out. There was never a chance that I could snag one of those tickets as I did not become aware that the Braves won the world series nevermind a free concert till this morning when I tuned in to watch The Price is Right only to be watching the pre broadcast to the parade. I'm guessing you would have to be a die hard Braves fan to know about the concert and snag one of the free tickets. The Braves also offered parking passes for $10 but only available for purchase in the lots east of the stadium.

So with my tail between my legs and safely tucked beneath me on my sofa, I bask in my renewed respect and admiration for the Atlanta Braves as I watch the players, coach and their families cross on the red carpet into the stadium where thousands of fans greeted them. Congratulations on your win. You deserve it!! I'm just saying, I got issues. What about you?)i(
